Junior Team
Linzi BoydenLinzi came to 5th Avenue on her work experience placement from Mark Rutherford Upper School for a two week stint in June 2008. She decided to join our team to work on one of our late evenings and a Saturday to learn more about the trade in April 2009. Enjoying her role as a junior stylist she decided to pursue a career in hairdressing and was accepted on the part time course at Bedford College. This would enable her to gain more hands on experience on the salon floor as well as attending her training at college once a week. She gained a permanent position on our junior team at the salon in July 2009 and began her training at the college in September 2009. Since working with us she has attended our junior training sessions held fortnightly, has knowledge and experience in shampooing, intensive hair treatments and the products she uses and has spent time wisely practising her blow drying skills to improve her hairdressing skills. She is looking forward to participating in next years annual hair show at the Corn Exchange and is focused on working, training and gaining as much experience as she can with our team here at 5th Avenue.

Cacey PooleHaving a passion for working with hair at an early age, Cacey went out and got a Saturday job at a hairdressing salon during her last year of school. As well as working for a prestigious salon group based in Cambridge she had also gained experience as an apprentice in her auntie’s salon based in Bedford. She had already gained one years experience working towards a recognised hairdressing qualification but decided that the way forward for her was to enroll on a part time course at Bedford College in September 2009. This way she could have the best of both worlds with working in a salon and also going to college one day a week. In addition to her hairdressing she helps to teach people with learning disabilities to ride horses and won “Young Volunteer of the Year” award in 2008 and went to Downing Street to collect her award personally. Cacey loves all aspects of her hairdressing and really enjoys taking part in the junior training lessons based at the salon. |
Amie DohertyAmy completed her work experience with us from Sandy Upper School. She enjoyed her time with us so much that she applied for a Saturday job almost straight away. She is extremely dedicated and is prepared to do whatever it takes to become a stylist. Since her work experience the salon has taken her in for a one day a week extended work experience programme whilst she completes her last year at school. In addition she also works with us on Saturdays and attends our fortnightly training session in salon to brush up on her hairdressing skills. She is looking forward to taking part in the salon annual junior soiree next year. |
