The Art of Beauty in Bedford
Posted In : BlogThe Art of Beauty in Bedford
A student at Bedford College is bringing skills and techniques from Fine Art to the world of Beauty Therapy. Fenella Early recently graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art and specialises in nature and the natural world, where she captures spirit, essence and individuality. After graduating, Fenella wanted a career that would combine art, creativity and beauty. She joined a fast track course at Bedford College to study Beauty Therapy and gained experience working at the College’s Brooks Hair & Beauty and now at 5th Avenue Hair & Beauty Spa. The course runs over 32 weeks and involves 3 days studying and 2 days work experience.
Fenella says:
“I like the idea of making something beautiful and producing something to the best of my ability.
“The stereotype of Beauty Therapy is not the reality – there is so much to learn and having A level Biology has been a great benefit!
“There are many similarities in the worlds of Art and Beauty – you never ever stop learning in both disciplines and there is always something to improve on and work towards.
“Bedford College tutors have been great and bring their experience and strong links with the industry to the course. Brooks is a commercial salon where we learn the social skills of talking to customers as well as the techniques of Beauty Therapy. We treat our customers as individuals and take great care to make sure they get the best experience and results. And the fast track course really suits my busy lifestyle.
“Kerry at 5Th Avenue Hair & Beauty Spa has given me the chance to develop my skills by attending additional training sessions and working as part of her team. I hadn’t realized how much passion there was in the industry!”
Kerry Cash, owner of 5Th Avenue Hair & Beauty Spa, added:
“Fenella has joined 5th Avenue for work experience, where she is able to build on the skills and technique she is learning at Bedford College and Brooks. She has already attended our motivational team coaching session and will now attend specialist industry training on our product ranges.
“I expect Fenella to be able to work to the same standard as our qualified Therapists and she is already making excellent progress.
“We are constantly developing what we offer at 5th Avenue and that now includes Sunday opening, with the overall aim of making Bedford a top shopping destination every day of the week.”
Fenella’s first art exhibition in Bedford was at The Art Centre & Gallery in Bedford, next door to 5th Avenue Hair & Beauty Spa. Proof that art and beauty, side by side, are perfect partners!
